Q: What is alternative turf?
We prefer the term alternative turf to synthetic or artificial turf. It is a carpet made of polypropylene, polyethylene or nylon fibers constructed to simulate real grass. Today’s turf is an integral component of an overall system that more closely resembles natural turf than its predecessors, yet outperforms natural turf without intensive maintenance.
Q: How long does it last?
Of course, that always depends on the how it is used. A TruLinetm putting green may last from 5 years (commercial, heavy use) to 12 years (residential). A TruGrasstm lawn will last from 8 years to 12 years or more. An All Playtm athletic field used as a high school practice field (heavy use) would typically remain in service for 8 to 10 years before it would need to be resurfaced. Results will always vary due to climate, intensity of use, maintenance, etc.
Q: Do TruLinetm greens receive a shot like a real green?
Absolutely. In fact, the more serious you are about your golf game, the more you will appreciate our greens.
Q: Can I install my own TruLinetm green?
No. Unlike many of our competitors, we do not offer "do-it-yourself" kits. We have found that the quality of our product, from turf through construction, is what separates us from the field. We have never seen a "do-it-yourself" green done well.
Q: Are TruLinetm greens maintenance intensive?
Not at all. Keep the green free of debris using a leaf blower at a shallow angle, if necessary. Brush the green with a medium grade push broom to reduce the speed. Use a water filled sod roller to increase speed and keep smooth.
Q: Does a TruGrasstm lawn look fake?
Not at all. In fact, most people do not realize it is not real without serious, up-close inspection. It looks like a perfect lawn, all of the time! Best of all, it is more durable than real grass.
